1. Title – The title of the poem is ‘To a Butterfly’

2. Poet/Author – The poem is written by ‘William wordsworth’.


3. Rhyme scheme – 1) The rhyme scheme of the first stanza is ‘aabbccb’
2. The rhyme scheme of the second stanza is ‘aabbcdccd’

4. Favourite lines- My favourite lines are –
“Stay near me – do not take thy flight!
A little longer in sight!”

5. Theme / central idea –
The poem tells how childhood flies away like the
butterfly. It also tells us how a person’s childhood is very important and how that
person must make well out of it and enjoy every moment of their childhood.

6. Figure of speech –
The figure of speech in the poem is – ‘Inversion.’
E.g.- 1. A little longer stay in sight,
Stay in sight a little longer.

7. Special Features – In the poem the poet is addressing or speaking to a butterfly. A beautiful
butterfly is flying in front of him. And poet is watching it to that butterfly
curiously. The poet remembered his childhood days how he was happy with
the company of these beautiful butterflies.

8. Why i like The Poem – I like the poem because, the poem tells us how a person’s
childhood is very important and how person must make well out of it and
enjoy moment of their childhood.
